How to get here The roads joining Spoleto to the major cities are fairly smooth. It takes an hour and a half to get to Spoleto from Rome, about two hours from Florence. Things get slightly tought by train especially when going North. To get to Florence it is usually necessary to change in Foligno and then again in Terontola. To get to Rome or Ancona trains are, instead, fairly regular. The airport of Sant'Egidio near Perugia has two flights a day to Milan. From April through to September, Spoleto is also connected to Monteluco thanks to a bus service (SSIT) leaving from the train station with a normal city bus route. If going to Campello, Foligno or Montefalco you must catch a bus in Piazza della Vittoria. Train and bus timetables are available at the "Azienda di Promozione Turistica" (Tourist Office) in Piazza della Libertà.. Transport - Taxis La Società Spoletina di Imprese di Trasporti (SSIT) runs the public transport service in the area between Spoleto and Foligno. Tickets are During the Festival traffic is not allowed in the city centre. There is, however, a shuttle service running which jins the parking areas directly with the centre. Information bureaux The Azienda di Promozione Turistica (Tourist Office) in Piazza della Libertà provides a complete range of information in English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish. The office is open every day. During the summer also the Festival information office is open in Piazza Duomo. The travel agencies provide information and can sell tickets. Municipal Offices

Exchange - Post office - Telephone Any of the four bank operating in Spoleto will change foreign currency into Italian lire. They are open from 8.30 to 13.30 every day except saturdays and sundays. The banks open again between 3.00 and 4.00 in the afternoon. In the centre there is the Banca Popolare in Piazza Pianciani and the Cassa di Risparmio in Piazza Mentana. In the lower part of the city above the Tessino creek in via Flaminia there is the Monte dei Paschi di Siena and in Piazza Garibaldi there is the Banca Commerciale Italiana. There is also an exchange bureau at the main post office in Viale Matteotti operating between 8.30 and 13.30 every day, Mon. to Fri. The postal system in Italy is run by the state. Bow boxes can be found all over the city. Coin and card public telephones are also very common. It is easy to find the telephone cards in tobacco shops and newspaper stands.
